The last time the Griffith Swans beat Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong was in round six of the 2012 Riverina League competition.
On that occasion current Swans James Toscan, Mick Duncan and Guy Orton all featured in Griffith’s best as the Swans won 17.12 (114) to 16.13 (109).
Since then, the Swans have gone winless against GGGM despite going incredibly close.
Last year, Griffith lost by one point against the Lions before drawing with them later in the year.
Swans director of coaching Adrian Pavese said the two matches against GGGM last year were still fresh in members of the clubs’ minds.
“Both clubs were gunning for that fifth spot last year and that draw fairly well destroyed both clubs chances of making finals,” Pavese said.
There’s not much between the two sides.

“There’s not much between the two sides.
“They’ve recruited well and we have too.
“It’s always tough over there, we’re just going over there hoping we can continue our improvement.”
As far as the losing streak against the Lions goes, Pavese wasn’t aware of it.
And if he had been aware of the statistic, it wouldn't be a focal point.
“Our main focus is that we haven’t played finals in 10 years,” Pavese said.
“We know we need to beat quality sides and we need to keep winning these games early on in the season.”
The Swans side will look much the same as the side that took to the field against Collingullie-Glenfield Park two weeks ago.
James Toscan and Guy Orton both came through the representative round unscathed and the Swans will welcome Casey Moore back this week.
Jono Gastin, Kyle Lynch and Will Griggs will all remain on the sidelines due to injury while Nathan Richards will miss the match after being called into the GWS Giants side to take on Aspley in the NEAFL.
James Taylor returned to training on Tuesday as he battles an ongoing groin injury and Pavese said the back was still a few weeks away from playing.
The match starts at 2.10pm.
