Whilst playing for the GWS Giants academy side, the 16-year-old was pencilled in for three trial matches for the Rams side.
After not playing all three games due to the broken collar bone, Rowston’s selection in the state side came as a huge shock.
The collar bone is now fully healed and the Assumption College student – who originally played juniors with the Barellan Two Blues before becoming a Griffith Swan when he was 10 – is focusing on the upcoming under 16s national championships.
Rowston attended a camp in Albury two weeks ago in preparation.
The NSW/ACT side will compete in tier two of the competition.
The Rams first stop will be in Darwin on June 8 to take on the Northern Territory team.
The side will then travel to the Gold Coast on July 4 where the players will play two matches against Queensland and Tasmania.
