The school they attend might be small but the heart these four swimmers showed at the New South Wales Primary Schools Sports Association 2016 State Swimming Carnival was nothing short of monumental.

Amelia Burcham, 12, Harry Rowston, 11, Claire Burcham, 9, and Leah Boyd, 12 from Binya Public School travelled to Sydney at the end of last term to compete in the Mixed Open 4x50m Freestyle Earl Magee Relay.
The foursome stepped up to the occasion and claimed the silver medal in the relay for schools with 25 students or under.
Amelia had the scary task of leading the relay off and false starts were on her mind after seeing another team disqualified.
“I was mostly freaked out about false starting and getting the team in front, they were probably the most daunting things,” Amelia said.
“There was a relay that did false start and the whole team was out [of the race].

“They pulled up the whole relay to get the person out, that would be the worst feeling.”
All four agreed they would rally around each other if the unthinkable happened but it didn’t and Amelia got the team off to a solid start.
Claire and Leah had the middle legs before Harry finished it off.
All three managed personal best times despite what they all described as a long wait between legs.
“Even when you're standing on the block, you’re like shaking,” Claire said.
“It’s a bit scary as well,” Harry added.
“You don't want to mess up or let the team down.
“I was very nervous, just when it gets closer to you, you get more and more nervous.”
The Binya quartet’s final time of 2:46.15 saw them finish just over three seconds behind Bourke-Walgett School of Distance Education.
In third place was Raleigh Public School in a time of 2:49.98.
While the swimmers don’t progress to nationals, they will always remember swimming in the same pool as some of their idols.
“[It was] crazy swimming in the Olympic pool knowing that Olympic swimmers had swum in that exact pool,” Amelia said.
