YFC got out to a fast start, knocking home the game’s first two goals thanks to Niumaia Tagi and Tuimasi Manuca.
Just before half-time, Wests were able to drag one back.
Blake Serafin blasted home a long range shot to send Wests into the break down just one.
Mid-way through the second half, the momentum once again swung in Wests’ favour as YFC’s Michael Barbaro was shown his second yellow card of the day.
Wests upped their attack but couldn’t find the back of the net until they were awarded a penalty with ten minutes to go.
Thomas King stepped up to the mark and made no mistake.
The game finished in a 2-2 draw.
Wests’ coach Sharif Moursi wasn’t pleased with the result.
“We played a scrappy game,” he said.
“Even with the extra man we couldn’t dominate the way we wanted to.”
He said they still had a lot to work on.
“We were trying to play a lot of kick and chase football out there, which isn’t our style,” he said.
