He’s thrown his hat in the ring for the Christian Democratic Party with the goal to “guide major parties back to a better standard.”

“In my council career I've been driven by morals and this is an extension of that,” Mr Rossetto said.

“It's a cause of mine, there's no logic behind it, it's just a calling.”

One person running against him will be the current Farrer electee and member of the liberal party Sussan Ley.

Mr Rossetto was not too happy about Mrs Ley’s stance on her own religious status.

“When I read stuff about Sussan Ley and the way she has deviated from her faith and now refuses to put her religious status on her bio, I tell you what, it's starting to get pretty scary,” he said.

“We could potentially elect somebody that we don't know how they will vote in the federal parliament and that is scary.”

“I said to my wife, if we just have to vote liberal or labor, I'll vote informal because I don't like the choices.”

While he didn’t expect to get voted in this time around, he said more independents in government would be a good thing.

“The best thing that could ever happen is to get more independent's into government,” he said.

“In particular Fred Nile.

“He's been there about 35 years.

“If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have the moratorium on coal seam gas in NSW, abortion would be running rampant like it is in Victoria where they can abort babies up to nine months, which is totally disgusting.

“There's a whole mess of things that Fred Nile has been able to direct to the government of NSW on the right path.”

He reiterated his five major principals that he run with.

“I'm excited, I'm not nervous,” Mr Rossetto said.

“I'm humbled to be asked to stand.

“Excited about bringing it to these major parties.”
