Just nine Swans from last season’s opener laced up the boots against Turvey Park last week.
The Riverina League team still managed to gel well enough to pile on 128 points against Turvey but Pavese said the Swans still had a way to go starting with Coolamon at Kindra Park on Sunday.
“It’s week one and we’ve still got a lot of improving to do,” he said.
“We’ve said since day one, we can’t disrespect anyone.
“Coolaman are a good footy side. They play good contested football and they play well at home.
“If we go over there with the attitude that we’ve achieved something already, they’ll put us back in out place.”
The star attraction for the day will be Adam Schneider’s involvement with the Coolamon side.
Like Schneider did with Barellan two weeks ago, the former St Kilda and Sydney player signed on for a one-off game with the Hoppers.
In the Barellan match, Schneider kicked six goals but Pavese won’t be dwelling on the AFL star’s inclusion.
“He’s just another player – a good one – but they have plenty of good players,” Pavese said of Schneider.
“If we focus on one player the other two or three will will get away from us.
“It’s up to everyone to play their role.”
Griffith made it through the Turvey Park match injury-free.
Just one change will be made with Jacob Conlan returning to the side after playing for the GWS Giants in the NEAFL competition last weekend.
“Someone will have to come out but we haven't decided who yet,” Pavese said
“The boys all knew that though because Jacob was selected in the side before GWS asked for him.”
The disruption was one Pavese was more than happy to accommodate.
“We want to be a club to provide opportunities for our players so it was a no-brainer for us,” he said.
“What he [Conlan] learns is invaluable to where to we want to be as a club.”
Pavese said there is plenty of competition for positions after all three sides enjoyed healthy wins last week.
The match starts at 2.10pm.
