Couple that with the fact this type of cancer is found in nearly 80 per cent of adult grey horses. “It will never kill the horse, but it isn’t very pleasant, is it?” Charles Sturt University’s Bryan Hilbert said. “I want to change that.”
The Wagga associate professor has just embarked on an ambitious quest to find a therapeutic vaccination for the illness. "Current therapies including freezing the tumours, chemotherapy, and surgery have met with only limited success,” he said. The university is looking for grey horse owners to participate in the trial.
