Hanwood won the toss and elected to bat first and got off to a reasonable start thanks largely to Alex Prudence (30).
When he was dismissed Hanwood were 4-54.
Some good team bowling then left them 7-80.
Michael Crosato (32) and Kris Hicken (28 not out) then salvaged the innings.
Number 11 Dean Wynne (18) chipped in at the end with some powerful hitting to propel Hanwood to 155 before they were bowled out.
Exies only had 36 overs to work with if they wanted to secure a win and got off to a slow but steady start.
At 1-43 Dylan Gillette (31) and newly appointed captain Phil Burge (26) kept the score ticking over.
Exies looked a chance of getting the victory before the inclusion of Jason Bertacco into the attack squashed those hopes.
He dismantled the Exies middle order to leave them 7-100.
It was Peter Davis (8*) and Jamie Winkler (9*) who stifled the bowling onslaught.
They got Exies’ run rate above that of Hanwood’s as they finished 7-121.
Bertacco finished the day with an impressive 6-25 from his six overs.
