Corrina Salvestrin from La Fleur Flower Boutique said the day celebrating love was always one of the biggest of the year for the flower industry, with many, many bunches finding their way all over the area.
Mrs Salvestrin said the red rose was still the ‘hero’ flower for Valentine’s Day, although lots of people opted instead for a mixed bouquet.
“Florists love ‘love’,” Mrs Salvestrin said.
“We love putting together the flowers and reading all of the lovely messages.”
It was still primarily men who were ordering flowers, chocolates and teddy bears for their sweethearts, according to Mrs Salvestrin. And for those gentlemen who forgot to place an order, Mrs Salvestrin said she would be open on Sunday morning to help fulfil the last-minute rush.
