Backpacker tax

This tax will have very serious implications for local industry and farmers who struggle to source local labour. This tax is misguided and will place a lot of pressure on regions like ours. Backpackers contribute to our local economy and we are lucky to have backpacker hostels that look after these workers - many other areas treat them like slaves, withhold their passports and take advantage of them. The Irish are already warning backpackers to boycott Australia because of this tax. It is a big worry.
