Griffith lost to Leeton at Exies No. 1 on Sunday by eight wickets.
A win would have just about sewn up a spot in the grand final but instead Griffith will have to do it the hard way.
Griffith now require a win against Lake Cargelligo next week for a chance to move into the final.
Griffith captain Scott Smith said after getting off to a handy start some brain fades let his side down.
“We probably needed a bit more discipline,” Smith said.
“We got off to that good start, it was a slow start but looking at the wicket it was a 160 plus wicket so we needed to stay out there.
“We lost a couple unlucky wickets, there was a couple stupid shots and all of a sudden we were out for 88.”
After winning the toss and deciding to bat, Griffith moved to 20 before opener Andrew Potter (6) was removed.
Smith (15) and Logan Matheson (25) got the ball rolling for Griffith and moved the score onto 50.
Smith was then removed by Brent Lawrence and Griffith endured a stunning collapse.
Seven runs later, Lawrence struck again to remove the dangerous Matheson.
Shaun Stubbs (8) and Luke Shannon (0) quickly followed and Griffith were in real strife at 5-61.
Kierren Williams (10) was the sole Griffith batsmen – bar Smith and Matheson – to crack into double figures.
Lawrence finished with 5-19 off nine overs.
Ben Elwin (2-13) was next best for Leeton as Griffith were bowled out with a score of 88.
The Leeton top order made light work of the total.
Dave Tiffin picked up 13 runs before he fell victim to the bowling of Mark Burns (1-12).
Griffith was desperate to get wickets and used nine bowlers in the attempt remove batsmen.
It wasn’t until Matheson was brought on in the 18th over and removed Lawrence (18) that some success was achieved.
The score was already at 75 at that point and the damage had been done.
Matt Dedini (41*) was the star with the bat and along with Hugh Collins (6*) knocked off the winning runs.
The win saw Leeton remain undefeated in the Creet Cup competition and guaranteed a spot in the final.
In other matches on Sunday, Ardlethan-Barellan beat West Wyalong by two wickets and in the final match Lake Cargelligo defeated Hay by seven wickets..
