On Saturday they recorded their second straight victory in the Griffith District Cricket Association first grade competition after enduring a five-game losing streak.
The confidence-boosting win came against a Diggers side which was sitting third on the ladder.
Diggers won the toss and elected to bat first but failed to take control of the contest against their rivals.
Fielding let Hanwood down on multiple occasions, with nearly half-a-dozen chances put down.
But the missed opportunities didn’t faze the Hanwood bowlers, who dismissed Diggers for 91.
Two weeks ago Hanwood were bowled out for 44 and 70 in an outright loss, so they weren’t taking anything for granted in the chase.
But a batting collapse wasn’t on the cards this time as they cruised past Diggers’ total for the loss of just one wicket.
Hanwood captain Dean Catanzariti was pleased with the victory but admitted there were still things his team needed to work on.
“We should have had them out for a lot less, but we dropped a few chances there,” he said.
“(But) it is pleasing to string a couple of wins together after starting the season kind of slow.”
