A water-bombing plane has made six runs over the fire so far, dumping thousands of litres of water onto the blaze which has now burned 60 hectares of land.
A spokeswoman from Griffith RFS said relief crews were set to take over at 6pm and no risk was posed to any infrastructure.

A grass fire is burning out of control near Darlington Point.
According to the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) the fire is on Murrumbidgee River Road at Willbriggie.
The cause of the fire is uncertain at this stage, but a spokeswoman for Griffith RFS said it had already burnt about five hectares.
Seven RFS trucks with 17 crew as well as a water-bombing plane were responding to the fire which is heading towards the national park.
“We are unaware of any threat to homes, lives or other property,” the spokeswoman said.
