Rostron and Mel Bonetti, Lauren Marshall, Kandice Marin and Lona Rostron combined to win the state final at Riverside Oaks in Sydney on Wednesday with a remarkable 49.5 nett.
The four women won the regional final in Griffith in July before recruiting Rostron for the state decider, which allowed the addition of a club professional.
Rostron was confident heading into the event and said every team member contributed to the victory.
“I thought the team was a really good combination and if we played to our potential we’d be competitive,” he said.
“Lauren and Kandice both hit long tee shots that really shortened up the course and that got me close enough to put it in a good position.
“But everyone played their part.”
Rostron has played at Twin Waters on the Sunshine Coast, where the national final will be staged from November 27-30, and believes the course will suit the Griffith combination.
“I think that score of 49.5 would probably be the best qualifying score and that will put us up there as one of the favourites,” he said.
The Griffith team will represent Griffith Golf Club, Leo Franco Holden and Bertoldo’s Bakery at the national final.
