Griffith continues to amaze me. It really is ‘the little city that could’. I took a walk around the Spring Fair at lunchtime on Sunday and was blown away by the number of people there.

Denny Fachin and his helpers have done such an amazing job bringing a great day of family fun out of the ashes of the Griffith Show. Here’s hoping next year will be bigger and better again!
A big thanks also goes to all of the people who came down and supported the stallholders, food vendors and show operators. There’s an entire community relying on the patronage of little country communities and we haven’t failed to deliver.
Everyone involved in Griffith’s Biggest Lap on Saturday night should hold their heads high too. This great fundraiser for Can Assist saw some sweet rides cruise down Banna Avenue while crowds of people watched from either side. There’s something special about the “two-bob two-bob” throb of a blown V8 reminding you how much fuel you’re burning.
And last, but certainly not least, we saw a great skate competition held down at the skate park. It’s really good to see people expressing themselves on boards and bikes.
Sadly our little skate park will be removed to make way for the new 50 metre pool, but hopefully it will be replaced with something bigger and better than before. I love skating, although it’s an awfully long time since I’ve been in a bowl that didn’t involve cereal.
