Defender Bec Byrne capped an impressive debut season with the Griffith Swans by winning the club’s best and fairest in first grade.

The 2015 season was Byrne's first in the Riverina Netball League, but that didn’t stop her from standing out for the Swans.
The 23-year-old moved to Griffith from Moree and was glad to have an instant impact on the court.
“It meant a lot to get the award,” she said. “It’s a new team for me and there are a lot of other experienced players. I thought it was lovely to get it.”
Byrne said the welcoming environment at the Swans helped her play her best netball.
“They’ve been a fantastic group of girls,” she said.
“It was an instant squad of 40 friends. I really appreciated it because it’s hard to meet people when you move to a larger town.”
