Ray McLean came out of nowhere to take first, while Simon nabbed a respectable fifth.
In second and third respectively, the battling duo of Rodney Savage (20mins45sec) and Adam Johnson (20.56) both lowered the competition’s best time by nearly a minute.
Savage might become the first Feral to get below 20 minutes on the course.
Johnson also has a good shot at breaking the magical barrier once he starts tapering for the Melbourne Marathon, which will be staged on October 18.
In fourth, Anthony Salmon proved a very capable race director and managed to lower his fastest time by almost a minute to finish in 26.58.
Peter Stockwell (25.46) made a rare appearance on the hill to finish sixth, while Michael O’Brien (29.47) was hot on his heels to earn seventh.
John Farronato (27.27) has improved greatly over the past few months and ran his fastest time of the competition to claim eighth.
Ninth-placed Derek Goullet (22.07) has moved up to take first in the point score, with Mirella Granata and Moreno Chiappin holding firm in the top three.
Rounding out the top 10 in race five was Brendon Sinclair, who blitzed his previous time by four minutes to finish in 23.59.
The ever-impressive Julie Duncan was the fastest female with 26.33 in her first run of the competition.
In the short course, Louise Valenti (20.18) took first and was closely followed by Grantley Hodge (17.46), who was fresh from the US.
The rest of the top 10 came across the finish line en masse.
Crossing third, Rhys Salvestro (16.03) was the quickest male, but six-placed Isabella Salmon (16min) claimed the fastest overall time with an impressive performance.
Amy Burgess (18.04) - trying out the short course this week - came in fourth, and Jaidev Gill (20.41) took fifth ahead of sibling Tajveer Gill (20.51) in eighth.
Adrian Baird (17.57) pipped Meg Signor (17.10) for ninth.
Last but not least, the globetrotting John Crimmins is safely home and was keen to face the hill again after some time away.
This Saturday will be the last run at 4.30pm. Please arrive before 4.20pm to register.
Daylight savings start this weekend, so next week’s run will go back to 5.30pm to accommodate the change over the warmer months.
The Griffith Feral Joggers meet at the water tower at Scenic Hill.
