SECURITY screening will be installed at Griffith's airport to cater for a new carrier offering flights to Melbourne.
A spokesman for the yet-to-be-named airline told The Area News yesterday the company had entered negotiations for an alliance with another carrier and had been instructed to introduce the safety measure.
The spokesman said local people would be employed to conduct bag screening, which would be similar to the process at most of the nation's larger airports.
The project will delay the airline's launch, which was expected to happen in early October.
A new date has not yet been set.
