Detective Acting Inspector Cherie Knox said there was an attempted armed robbery at a Narrandera newsagency at 3.30am on Monday.
“Two men have entered a shop in Narrandera by force,” Inspector Knox said.
“Police have been told the men, who had their faces concealed and were armed with block splitters or similar, threatened the shop owner demanding cash.”
According to Inspector Knox the men left the location (without property or cash) in a black coloured late model Holden Commodore with a possible third person of interest.
“This matter appears to be related to an attempted break and enter in the Narrandera CBD and an actual break and enter in Leeton,” Inspector Knox said.
According to Inspector Knox the Leeton Market Place newsagency was broken into using a sledgehammer or block splitter and thieves unsuccessfully tried to break into the Narrandera Cignal store.
Griffith detectives have secured the crime scene and are making enquiries into the attempted robbery and the two related break and enter incidents.
“If you have any information in relation to any of these incidents please contact either Griffith police on 02 6969 4299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000,” she said.
“Community information is instrumental in assisting with locating wanted offenders of serious crime.”
