Trainwreck is undoubtedly the best movie I have seen this year.

I have to admit that is a big call from someone who has little patience watching movies to completion. I have a habit of switching off a movie half-way through if it's not my cup of tea. I recently saw Ted 2 at the movies and thought it was about an hour too long.
Amy Schumer is one of an elite group of comediennes at the top of their game. Think Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig and Amy Poehler. These women have perfected the art of poking fun at the stereotypical roles females are sometimes expected to fill in life.
Amy Schumer plays Amy, a journalist working at a trashy men's magazine. Her job pays the rent but she is forced to resort to gutter journalism to keep her job. Her views on love have been tainted by her father's belief that monogamy is not realistic. She follows in her father's footsteps, having a series of sexual encounters with men who she has no intention of ever seeing again. She believes that she has a fear of commitment but in reality she just hasn't met Mr Right.
Amy drinks too much, rolls her eyes at women who fit into a typical stereotype female role and often puts her foot in her mouth or trips up because she is always looking for her next adventure.
Enter Aaron (Bill Hader) a sports doctor who works with elite athletes. Amy's big mouth lands her with an assignment to interview Aaron. Mere seconds into their first encounter she spills that she knows nothing about sport, insulting Aaron in the process.
Despite Amy's unique approach to life and inability to be sensible in any situation, Aaron sees something special in Amy. The two spend a lot of time together and discover that when they are together nothing else matters.
There are obstacles along the way. The two have to decide whether they want to face them together or apart.
Amy Schumer's brand of comedy is often misunderstood. But she has an overarching message that should resonate with all of us. Life is short. Be who you want to be. Smile often. Laugh. Dance like no one is watching. Life is not a dress rehearsal.
