Mitchell Cox battled depression for years and Caroline believes he may still be here if more support was available.
Caroline has now thrown her support behind a Headspace for Griffith.
I think it’s a wonderful thing to do to ensure Mitchell’s legacy lives on.
It’s also a great way to encourage people suffering from mental illness to seek help.
I believe society has a long way to go in convincing people with a mental illness it’s OK to ask for help.
I think we all have a part to play in getting rid of this stigma for good.
There are not too many people who don’t experience some sort of challenging period in their life at one point or another.
Usually all it takes to realise it’s not as bad as it seems is a chat to a caring friend or family member.
Occasionally more support is needed, but this person may need to be encouraged to seek it.
I encourage residents to head along to the Group 20 match at Yenda this weekend to support this worthy cause. There are a lot of people who will benefit from services a facility such as Headspace can offer.
If you or someone you know is experiencing an emotional crisis, call Lifeline on 131 114.
