These are some of the student comments about what they love about Binya Public School.
Binya Public School is a vibrant community where the ‘best practice’ of teaching and learning, the well-being of our students and the inclusion of our community are its priorities. So far this year the students have been involved in a wide range of activities including academic, team and individual sport, creative arts, music, technology, excursions, community activities, video-conferencing, Kidz Konnect, competitions, assembly performances and leadership camps, just to name a few.
This year we welcome our new kindergartens, Max Conlan and Charlie Kite. Max and Charlie make up the infants to 4 students and, with the primary students of 9, Binya has a total population of 13 this year.
Earlier this year Binya held its inaugural family Outdoor Movie night. The grounds and gardens looked fantastic, set amongst the lighting with the great music entertainment of Lauren Irvin and Vincent Conlan. We thank them for donating their time and talent to our night; it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
The ‘Grannie Goodies’ auction proved to be a highlight of the night! Fair to say it was a great success with our local bakers perhaps considering setting up business for a short time to support their retirement plan (Jan Evans, Eileen Conlan, Mim Rowston, Rhonda Ellis, Barb Forster, Edna Conlan, Cathy Kite, Judy Munro, Evelyn Brown provided a beautiful array of home cooking.) Thankyou to our sponsors for the night, Yenda Producers and Jan Evan’s Binya Post Office and our auctioneer Wayne Spencer, and Rodney Evans. Binya School continues to host Kidz Konnect on Mondays from 10 to 11.30am. Kidz Konnect is an educational and social opportunity for local families of 0-5 years to meet weekly at our school. This initiative is supported by the school and P&C as a way to bring the community together and to build and support each other. The toddlers have opportunities to join in a variety of activities including art, craft, cooking, play and music.
