THIS week Carla asked: Just about everyone I know has been sick including myself. I am feeling better, but I still can’t be bothered getting out and about. What can I do?

It’s interesting that we defer to the, “What can I do?” question when really what we need to ask is, “How can I be?” So much of what we ‘do’ comes from believing that our logic shapes our lives. It gives us a sense of control. When we get sick, or those around us are sick, we lose control over the situation. No amount of pills or potions can overcome that feeling of helplessness. Often, when we have just a hint of feeling better, we jump straight back into where we left off. Intellectually, this is a good plan of action, but only once we have fully recovered.
The “Door to Spirit” card from Sandra Anne Taylor’s Energy Oracle deck signals that this is a good time to connect with your higher self. When nothing else gets you through, it is always available. It is infallible. Trust it like a good friend on hand at a moment’s notice. And you don’t have to sit cross-legged, yogi-style to appreciate what your Spirit is trying to tell you! Bestselling author Sonia Choquette writes: ”Connecting with Spirit is the most authentic, lasting power we have in our lives. We can’t control the outside world, but with the power of Spirit, we can create a sense of purpose within that brings about deep satisfaction and personal peace – regardless of what is going on around us.” Tips on how to connect with spirit and let it carry us through life’s challenges:
- The daily grind is a constant noise and distraction to our inner self. The key is to get still and quiet enough to hear those messages that can lead you away from the dark and into the light.
- Where can you commit a few moments out of your day to go within? This is not a time for list-making, planning or analysing.
- Swap resilience for rejuvenation and in the process discover what it feels like to be guided by Spirit instead of the space between our ears.
At first it can be hard to believe such a basic practice can help at all, which is why many don’t begin it in the first place. But what have you got to lose, except a few minutes of worry and stress in place of a few minutes of peace and calm? Send your questions for Sharon to editor@areanews.com.au
