There’s nothing quite like the solid ‘thump’ into your shoulder as you pull the trigger. Personally, I enjoy the split second reactions of swinging an ‘over-under’ up in front of a clay pigeon and seeing it turn into a pinky-orange dust.

I’m not a gun owner myself, but that’s simply because I can’t be bothered with the hassle of keeping a gun at home.
Enjoying sport shooting or recreational hunting doesn’t make you some kind of crazed psycho-killer. Just like being a boxer doesn’t make you a thug. There has been an increase in gun crime, but not from registered owners. Banning guns from registered owners who do the right thing won’t make the world any safer.
Now, the Greens are concerned about guns because of the Lindt Cafe siege. As should we all. Man Haron Monis killed two people. But here’s the thing: he wasn’t a registered gun owner. It wasn’t a legally purchased gun.
Banning guns because of a criminal minority would be like banning cars because some people cause fatal car accidents. The majority of road users are licensed and responsible, and never cause any problems.
There are even tighter controls on licensed gun owners than there are on drivers. I wish all the drivers in Griffith were as strictly vetted as the shooters are.
Pay attention governments: that just might make the world a safer place.
