The Griffith Swans are still alive in this season’s Riverina Football League finals race, but it’s hard to find the pulse following Sunday’s draw with Ganmain-Grong Grong-Matong at Exies Oval.

Both teams finished on 12.10 (82), but what hurts the Swans is that they allowed the Lions to kick the last three scoring shots – two goals and a behind – after leading with five minutes remaining.
The result leaves Griffith seventh on the ladder, six points out of the top five, with three rounds remaining.
Swans coach Brandon Mathews was gutted by the draw and said his team should have been capable of closing out the game.
“The thing is we don’t know what’s going to happen from now on,” he said.
“With this competition, anyone can beat anyone. It’s just a shame we’ve taken it out of our hands.”
Henry Delves booted five goals to be one of the Swans’ best, but Mathews said the Lions’ edge in experience was the difference.
“The loss is pretty painful at the minute, but Ganmain have been a good side for a long time,” Mathews said.
“They’ve won plenty of premierships in the last 10 years. They know how to do it. It’s probably part of the learning curve for our young blokes that they’ve got to learn how to win.”
In better news for the Swans, the club’s reserve grade side beat the Lions 11.5 (71) to 6.11 (47) to remain first on the ladder.
