Sir Peter Cosgrove presented David Martin with the award in recognition of his noteworthy contribution to the success of 2nd Griffith Scout Group.
Adult Recognition Awards were presented each year to volunteer leaders and supporters who had given valuable service above and beyond what was normally expected.
Mr Martin had been actively involved in the progress of 2nd Griffith Scout Group since 2004.
in 2006 Mr Martin accepted the role of chairperson. His main focus at the beginning was the financial wellbeing of the group. To that end, he commenced proceedings to dispose of the surplus hall, which was a financial burden, as well as requiring time and effort to maintain the building and grounds which were not being used.
The focus on financial strength had been an important part of their ongoing success.
