Simi Vuata will take to the stage tonight in an effort to progress from the round of 16 on The Voice Australia.
In the lead up to tonight’s performance he spoke about his journey up to this point.
He said being up on stage just “felt right.”
“You have such an adrenalin rush because you want to give it your all and you want to show the crowd that this is who you are,” he said.
“If you can't make people connect with you then there's really no point because that's what it's all about.”
He said being thrust into the spotlight has been an intriguing experience.
“The spotlight is very interesting, but it's something I'm coming to terms with,” he said.
“I’ve been doing radio shows and television interviews and it’s been pretty good.
“It's definitely something I could get used to in the future, and if people want to hear more of me then that's great.”
He said it would probably feel a bit different performing live, knowing that the whole country was watching right that second.
“You’re aware of the millions of viewers,” he said.
“But it comes down to how you want to carry yourself and just trying to give it your all.”
He said despite some nerves, he felt confident in his own abilities.
“I‘ve got a big emotional ballad and I want to show more of what I can give,” he said.
“Of course it's nerve-racking but at the end of the day that's what I want to be doing so there's no point getting worried.”
He said it’s all felt surreal up to this point.
“I think just getting a chair to turn at the blinds was such an achievement, so to be in the top 16 on such an international stage is such a blessing,” he said.
“Working closely with my coach one on one and getting so much experience from her has helped me a lot.
“I've grown so much confidence wise and I now know where I want to go after this.”
