The plus and minus game tests the golfer’s resolve, where a birdie is only a plus if he does not receive a shot on that hole.
Ryan Salvestro handled it with aplomb, carding the day’s best score, plus three to win A Grade.
He nailed a birdie on the eighth to turn plus two, then drained another on the 16th, to add plus one home.
Runner-up David Kidd all square, also canned a birdie on the 16th, on a countback over Neil Mahaffey.
Aaron Webb - all square - won B Grade, turning minus one and a birdie on the 12th, to improve to plus one in.
Brett Polkinghorne minus one was runner-up on a countback over John Badodo minus one.
Luke Lasscock plus one recovered from minus one on the front nine to come home In plus two.
This enabled him to take the countback over Graeme Gifford who also finished plus one, on course for a win turning plus two, only to slip to minus one home.
Pro Pins won by Steve Crowe and Stephen Joyce. Par Threes to (4th) John Gale, (7th) David Kidd, 11th Duncan McWhirter, 16th Allan King.
Vouchers went to minus three.
Former local Jason Pavese, who was also club champion and a locally trained professional, was also in the field.
There was a solid Sunday field of 47 players contesting a single stableford.
Andrew Romagnolo, 37 points, took out A Grade with splits of 18-19, carding 12 pars.
Runner-up Wayne Tyndall, 35 points, recovered from a 16 point front nine to add 19 home.
Justin Robertson (38 points) was best in B Grade, nailing a birdie on the eighth and Another on the 18th, in scoring 20 home.
Runner-up Geoff Cotterill (36 points) saving his round with four point birdies on the sixth and ninth.
Grant Gyles - 36 points - won C Grade, 19 points out and 17 home, carding a four point par on the fourth. Luke Lasscock 34 points second.
He had a round of highs and lows, carding a five point birdie on the second to go with a four point par on the 13th, and a four point birdie on the 17th.
Vouchers went to 31 points.

VETERANS GOLF
THE veterans played a single stableford last Thursday with 31 players in two grades.
Arthur Longmore birdied the seventh in his wining 0-18 score of 37 points. Eric Couper (35 points) runner-up.
Ray Barrington – 37 points - won the 19-36 Grade, one ahead of Graeme Gifford, runner-up on 36 points. Nearest the Pins: 15th Eric Couper, 16th Bob Painting. Club Bar vouchers to 32 points.
It was also round eight of the Winter Cup.
Arthur Longmore has hit the front on 146 points from Garry Purcell 145, Garnett Reade 144, John Gale 143, Ray Barrington 142, Tony McBride 142.
Former veteran Noel (Pinky) Brown passed away last week, the brother of veteran Bill Brown and all members condolences to his family.
Tomorrow’s event is again a single stableford and round nine of the Winter Cup.
Today’s event is a single stableford, Saturday a single stroke for the August Monthly Medal.
Sunday sees the qualifier for the Roy and Ida Graham Memorial Mixed Match, A 4BBB Stableford.
There will also be a single stableford in conjunction.
The always popular Hillston Open is also on Sunday.
