It’s been a whirlwind 18 months for De Marco who moved to Wollongong from Griffith to pursue a career in pole dance.
De Marco managed to juggle her full time job, work as a casual pole dance instructor in Sydney along with her dancing commitments.
She competed in the amateur division last year – where she was named first runners up – before dazzling the judges in the professional division at the NSW heats on June 20.
A mix of hard work and support from family members got De Marco to where she is.
“The feeling was one that is hard to describe,” De Marco said when asked how the win made her feel.
“It was a title I never thought in my wildest dreams I would own and the best part was having my mum come up to watch.”
De Marco will next head to the national finals in Sydney on September 5 to take on the country’s best.
