The Blues will take on the Northern Jets on Saturday.

After the match, past and present players, coaches, committee members and all those associated with the Club will be invited to the Coleambally Community Club (CCC).

Long-time club member Mick Breed said it would be good to get three generations of club members in the same room.

“It will be good to have some of the old footballers back, some of the original generations back, and just to have a chance to catch up,” he said.

“Its always been a footy club where we've wanted our juniors to be the best they can.”

He said the club had always had a strong sense community about it.

“The netballers used to be a separate entity but they still played under our banner, but obviously now we’re all one club,” he said.

“The girls will be playing netball and some other junior girls will look after the kids and that sort of thing.

“You can walk down the street and kids will say g'day to you, and that comes from the strong junior ties that the club has.”

He said he couldn’t believe how quickly 50 years had gone by.

“Fifty years came around a bit quicker than I thought,” he said,

“The club has actually been around longer than the town, so the club was basically up and running before the town started to take shape.

“For me personally, 50 years is just a great thing to be apart of.”

He said there was one memory that stood out to him after all these years.

“My first grand final win with first grade really stands out to me,” he said,

“It was pretty special for me. I set myself a target of playing in a first grade premiership and I ended up three.”

Tickets to the CCC cost $20 on the door with finger food provided.

Recognition of the ‘95 and ‘05 premiership football teams as well as the ‘95 netball team will take place.

The heritage jumper auction will take place as well as the naming of the “team of the half-century.”
