NSW Parliamentary Secretary for Regional and Rural Health and Western NSW Sarah Mitchell was joined by Member for Murray Adrian Piccoli at the opening of the health facility, which was jointly funded by the NSW Government and the Commonwealth.
“The Hillston MPS is an exciting step forward in contemporary health care for the community,” Ms Mitchell said.
“It is a fully-integrated facility where residents can access a complete range of community health services - from acute care, to preventative health and aged care - under one roof.
“It demonstrates (our) commitment to ensuring rural and regional communities have access to high-quality health care, closer to home.”
Mr Piccoli said it was a great day for the people of Hillston, who had long waited for a modern health facility in their community.
“I know they will utilize the range of services to the full,” Mr Piccoli said.
“Great credit must go to the staff for their determined efforts in the lead-up to today - and the care they will provide to the community in the months and years to come.”
Services offered in the Hillston MPS include:
- 24-hour access to an emergency treatment room
- five inpatient beds to provide acute, respite and palliative care
- a residential area which comprises 10 residential aged care beds
- consultation rooms available for visiting services
- a range of allied health and nursing services
- provision of staff accommodation
