He drowned in a backyard swimming pool on Sunday.
Chris was rushed to Griffith Base Hospital but could not be revived.
The incident is under investigation by Griffith Local Area Command officers, who will prepare a brief of evidence for the Coroner.
“Such sad news. My heart goes out to the family,” Kelly Dal Broi wrote on The Area News Facebook page.
“Fly high little man,” wrote Traciee Ceccone.
“So sorry for your loss,” wrote Sandy Wicken.
The circumstances of the drowning are not known.
Following the death Griffith Mayor John Dal Broi expressed his condolences and said the whole community was mourning the loss.
In NSW an average of 11 children under five drown annually, with a further 62 children being admitted to hospital each year for near drowning. Backyard swimming pools need to be registered at www.swimmingpoolregister.nsw.gov.au
