The reality television star and recently published author will speak about her family and the objectification of women in the media during an appearance at a civic forum on June 30.

Kardashian, 34, will appear in conversation with retired judge LaDoris H. Cordell for the event.

According to promotional material, she will speak on "her new book Selfish, the Kardashian Jenner clan, the business of millennial culture, the objectification of women in media, and more".

The event is being presented by the US's oldest civic forum, the Commonwealth Club of California.

Previous guest speakers hosted by the club include Martin Luther King jnr and the Dalai Lama.

In a blurb on the club's website, Kardashian is praised for her entrepreneurial skill.

"Kim Kardashian West has taken everything that is modern day society – from selfies to self-promotion to sexuality – embraced it, monetized it, and now we're going to talk about it."

VIP tickets for the event start at $US300 ($389), and include a cocktail party reception.

But punters who just want to hear what Kardashian has to say can purchase a general admission ticket for as little as $US40 ($52).

(At the time of writing, the event had – surprisingly – not sold out.)

This isn't the first time the Kardashian West clan have tried to explain their surreal existence in an academic setting.

The other half of the #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple, Kanye West, addressed the Oxford Guild (the careers society of Oxford University) earlier this year, delivering lines like "it's illegal to not wear clothes, and also possibly too cold" to some of the UK's brightest young minds.
