Former Griffith mayor John Dal Broi looks poised to regain the top position after establishing a clear lead in the mayoral election.
There has been no change to the mayoral election figures since late last night which had Mr Dal Broi 500 first preferences votes ahead of current mayor Mike Neville.
As of 9.54pm Mr Dal Broi has tallied 3,035 first preference votes which equates to 24.13 per cent after 13,028 votes have been counted.
Current mayor Mike Neville is second 500 votes behind with 20.15 per cent of the vote.
As of 9.12pm Mr Dal Broi remains in front in the mayoral election with 24.85 per cent of the vote ahead of Mike Neville (19.63 per cent) who has slightly closed the gap, and Bill Lancaster (17.52 per cent).
As of 8.37pm Mr Dal Broi had 25.16 per cent of the 8,000 votes counted ahead of current mayor Mike Neville (19.13 per cent) and current councillor Bill Lancaster (17.54 per cent).
Despite retiring in 2008, the 26-year council veteran earlier said that he was motivated to make a run for the chair by members of the community, who approached him with concerns about the city’s stability and the future for Yenda residents.
Mr Dal Broi was mayor of Griffith for 16 years before his retirement.

In the councillor election as of 11.46am after 11,104 formal votes Group A, lead by John Dal Broi (23.82 per cent) has a slight majority over Group E lead by Mike Neville (23.25 per cent) in first preference voting.
Individually Mr Dal Broi is well ahead on first preference voting with 22.08 per cent trailed by Mr Neville 13.91 per cent.
As of 8.58am and after 8,462 formal votes have been counted John Dal Broi is leading the first preference vote count with 23.01 per cent of the vote ahead of Mike Neville (13.38 per cent) and Bill Lancaster (12.34 per cent).
As of 9.39pm Mr Dal Broi was leading the first preference vote count with 24.11per cent of the vote head of Mike Neville (12.83 per cent) and Bill Lancaster (10.90 per cent) with around one-third of the votes counted.
As of 9.12pm Mr Dal Broi was also leading the first preference vote count with 25.16 per cent of the vote, ahead of current councillors Mike Neville (12.49 per cent), Bill Lancaster (10.77 per cent) and Dino Zappacosta (10.16 per cent) though vote counting is only in the early stages.
