Minister for Emergency Services David Elliott is encouraging the community to meet their local firefighters and check out Griffith Fire Station as part of the annual Fire and Rescue NSW Open Day.

Griffith joins more than 330 fire stations across the state in throwing open their doors this Saturday 30 May from 10am - 2pm.
Firefighters will provide safety demonstrations, fire prevention advice, fire station tours and families will get the chance to inspect firefighting equipment and trucks which are used when responding to fires and other emergencies.
“Our firefighters respond to life-threatening incidents every day to protect our community –whether it’s a huge factory blaze, a cliff-top rescue, a vehicle crash with people trapped, or an incident involving hazardous materials,” Mr Elliott said.
“I invite the community to take a tour of their local fire station, meet the firefighters and learn about fire safety from the experts.”
Tens of thousands of people attend their local station every year as part of Fire and Rescue NSW Open Day, which coincides with the launch of the annual Winter Fire Safety campaign.
