Coming off a bye, Leeton looked the better team early on, and were rewarded when Benjamin Nardi put away the team’s first for the game.
Both sides were able to create chances, but neither were able to add anything more to the score before the halftime break.
Leading 1-0 coming out of the sheds, Leeton were eager to add to their lead. When Adam Raso doubled the home team’s advantage, the game looked to be slipping away from Yenda.
A late Kieran Doran penalty brought the visitors to within one, but that was as close as Yenda would get.
Leeton coach Daniel Alampi was pleased with the three points, but admitted there was still work to be done.
“We played well out there, and were able to move the ball around,” he said.
“We weren’t clinical in front of goal, which made it a bit harder.
“Getting three points is the main thing.”
