Waratahs indulged in their almost customary slow start to trail 18-6 before finding their rhythm.
Player-coach Kose Lelei, fullback Johnny Teleaga and prop Mike Ioapo ignited the reigning premiers, who now have three wins in a row after starting the season with consecutive losses.
Saturday's clash was marred by four sin-binnings – two from each side – but Waratahs secretary Mark Jaffrey said the Tigers maintained enough composure to earn the points.
“We’re feeling a bit better than before now we’ve got that third win,” he said.
“It looks like they (Tigers) are starting to head in the right direction.
“Their attack is coming together, but there’s still work to be done in defence.”
Blueheelers player-coach Tom Sellars will have similar thoughts after watching his team leak seven tries. The second-rower emphasised the importance of defence in the lead-up to the clash and would be disappointed to score 30 points and not win.
Sosaia Langi (2), Viliami Ngu, Jesoni Nalawa, Mitchell Cooper, Ioapo and Lelei were the try scorers for the Tigers, while Geoff Cook (2), George Broome, Tom Sellars and Josh Curhpy crossed for the Blueheelers.
