Playing their third game in seven days didn’t seem to affect the home team, as Blake Potts and Sevi Tropea both slotted home goals in a match that co-coach Anthony Agresta called “probably our best all year.”
Hanwood went into the halftime break leading by one, thanks to a 25-yard strike by Tropea.
The second half saw more pressure put on the Yoogali FC defence, with Potts eventually getting the team’s second to secure the match.
Agresta was pleased with the performance, particularly with how the team started.
“The last couple of games we’d gotten off to slow starts, so that was something we talked a lot about coming into the game,” Agresta said.
“The first 20 minutes saw us play extremely well, which resulted in Sevi’s goal.
“They came back at us towards the end of the first half, but apart from a one-on-one save by Shaun Pearson, they really didn’t trouble us too much.”
Agresta said his players dug deep after a busy schedule.
“It was a big effort by the whole team, including the boys from the under 18s who stepped up for us,” he said.
