Business chamber member Paul Snaidero was pleased how the budget had shaped up overall, but there was one thing in particular that caught his attention.

“The price of water to a garden city is of concern in that we need to maintain an aesthetically appealing community environment if we want people to relocate here,” he said.

“It’s not about dropping the price of water to the community, but giving more water for the same price, to allow people to grow and care for gardens on their properties.

“Property values have suffered in the city, a factor I believe, is since the introduction of increased water charges on the household budget.

“This is an opportunity for council to assist in building up property values by landowners, to help improve the aesthetic presentation of the city.”
