Fifita played much of his junior football for Griffith Waratah Tigers but will turn out for City in the annual representative fixture against Country.
Barrett said the Cronulla star would be looking for a big game to lock down a spot in the Blues’ State of Origin side after serving a suspension for a dangerous throw.
“Lucky for us he (Fifita) has been off for three weeks, so that’ll help us a little,” Barrett said.
“But he’s a very good player. Their other front-rower David Klemmer is a very good player, too.
“It’s going to be a big job stopping them, but we’ve got a big pack as well, so we’ll be okay.”
Barrett and his Country side were at Jubilee Park yesterday for the staging of the Trent Barrett Shield before heading to EW Moore Oval for a training session.
NSW coach Laurie Daley has publicly stated there are jumpers up for grabs in the Blues side, and Barrett expects his players to perform accordingly.
He said Sunday’s match was a genuine trial for Origin.
“There’s certainly a few spots that haven’t been decided, about six or seven, particularly in the halves,” Barrett said.
“It’s a big game for (five-eighth) James Maloney and a few of our younger forwards like Josh Jackson and Tyson Frizell.
“Anything can happen from here. You don’t know what injuries are going to happen in that Origin side.
“There are three games (in the series), so it's important they play well.”
Last year's City-Country clash finished 26-all, and Barrett expects little to separate the sides in Wagga.
He said City coach Brad Fittler would have his players primed for a big display.
“Knowing Freddy (Fittler), they’ll throw the ball around a bit and so will we,” Barrett said.
“We want to play a good style of footy, and hopefully we can get a good crowd over at Wagga.
“We’ve got a good side. I’m happy with the team we’ve got.”
