The game was full throttle from the word go as the Yellow Tails put away two chances in the first 15 minutes to grab the early lead.
Yoogali FC then extended their lead to three goals and with halftime looming looked to be doing it comfortably before Jack Vickers scored for Yenda.
If not for some fine goalkeeping from Yoogali FC shot-stopper Jone Ralulu, Yenda could have brought the scoreline even closer.
The second half proved a more even contest, but Yoogali FC were too good. Archie Watkins slotted home a hat-trick and Uraia Loki also added one to his tally.
“We definitely were feeling the pressure from not having scored a win yet, considering we are the defending premiers,” Yoogali FC co-coach Rocky Marando said.
“When we were three-nil up they were putting a lot of pressure on us and if not for some great saves by Jone Ralulu, it could have been even at the half.”
Despite not coming away with the win, Yenda coach Rhys Jones did take some positives from the game.
“Josh DeRossi and Blake Serafin in the centre of midfield both had great games,” he said. “It’s a good learning curve for the two youngsters.”
