Mal Blake and Peter Budd were in action on Saturday and took on a strong field in the 94km handicap.
Conditions were wet and atrocious for the event, causing Mal Blake to suffer a fall during one deluge.
Budd rode well for most of the race, but his legs had enough once the scratch group sailed by with 20km remaining.
On Sunday, Jason Minato, Flavio Zanotto, Ashley Gunn and Gary Polkinghorne saddled up for the 74km handicap.
Weather was again a factor, with the rain giving way to a strong and cold southerly wind, which made it hard to find a good wheel to sit on.
Gunn, riding in his first open event, was the most successful of the Griffith riders and bagged two intermediate sprint wins before his group was caught by the hard-charging back markers.
In other news, Sunday will see a Tom’s Cycle City pointscore race staged over three laps of the Griffith Cycle Club course.
Melissa Budd leads the series after placing second and first in the opening two races.
All eyes will be on the back markers to see if they can get up for a win.
Registrations open at 8.30am.
Racing will get underway at 9am.
