Local drivers held their own against the state’s best kart racers, who had to contend with a wet Tharbogang circuit on Friday and Saturday before sunny skies prevailed for the finals on Sunday.
Leeton's Jarrod Whitty finished third in the clubman light division and also earned seventh in the TAG 125 light to cap a successful weekend of competition.
Also racing in the TAG 125 light, fellow Griffith Kart Club member Byron Woolner earned fifth in a quality field, which was topped by four-time national champion Pierce Lehane.
Trevor Whitby had a good titles and drove fast enough for third in the clubman heavy.
Clubmates Noah Sands (6th, cadet 12), Blake Snaidero (6th, junior national heavy), Kristopher Centofanti (12th , TAG 125 heavy), Jason Severino (11th, junior national light), Alex Venables (11th, TAG 125 light), Jamie Prendergast (7th, clubman heavy), Braden Boots (9th, clubman heavy) and Jarrod Prendergast (11th, clubman heavy) also drove well.
More than 130 drivers attended the event. Griffith Kart Club's next meeting is round two of the Southern Star Series on May 9.
