Inspector John Wadsworth from Griffith police said a 36-year-old man was taken into custody and was due to appear in Griffith Local Court on Monday morning.
Police will allege the man led them on a low-speed chase on Hay Road in a white 2007 Mitsubishi Lancer.
They will further allege that Charles Henry Haas, of Darlington Point, forced entry into a home on Hay Road.
Inspector Wadsworth said Mr Haas was not known to the occupants, who were believed to have forced Mr Haas out of the house at which point he got into his car.
He said police attended the house and attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop.
What followed was a series of stop start encounters between police and Mr Haas.
Police will allege Mr Haas drove east on Hay Road at a slow speed, around 60km/h, then stopped.
Police went up to the vehicle, attempted to speak to the driver, and he drove off again, only to stop once more.
Police approached the car and tried to negotiate with the driver to turn the car off, but he again drove away.
Highway patrol utilised road spikes and flattened a driver’s side tyre and stopped the vehicle.
Police again approached the vehicle but the driver wouldn’t comply with them and he attempted to drive off with the flat tyre.
He was eventually coaxed out of the vehicle and taken to Griffith Police Station.
The man sustained no injuries in the chase, but was taken to Griffith Base Hospital for blood alcohol testing, according to Inspector Wadsworth.
A roadside breath test returned a negative result.
The results of a drug test will take some time to come back to police as materials have to be sent to Sydney.
Inspector Wadsworth said Mr Haas was charged with “stalk intimidate with intent to cause fear, assault, aggravated enter dwelling without knowing people, drive motor vehicle menacing, and not stop vehicle when directed to do so”.
The Area News was told by Griffith Local Court that Mr Haas was not expected to appear in court on Monday.
Mr Haas did not apply for bail.
The matter was adjourned until April 21 at Deniliquin Local Court.
