Alex Hirschauer is a silver licence coach with Melbourne Vicentre Swimming Club.
He came to Griffith to run a three-day development program with local swimmers.
Hirschauer also passed on his expertise to coaches during his visit to the Griffith Regional Leisure Aquatic Centre.
“We’ve been working through all the different strokes and focusing on technique,” Hirschauer said.
“Out of the water, we’ve been working on posture, flexibility, rehab and then focusing on strength.
“We’ve been doing talks on what it takes to be successful, the strokes in theory and nutrition.”
Hirshcauer said local coaches played a big role in developing swimmers’ talents.
“We are trying to give the coaches more guidance and setting standards for the groups,” he said.
“It gives the kids the knowledge to take themselves to the next level.”
