Trim It takes title

TRIM It Hair 'n' Nails have pipped Driver Country Oven in a high-scoring finale to the Griffith Touch Association's winter competition, winning 11-9 at Ted Scobie Oval.

Fitting of the final game of the season, both sides threw caution to the wind as touchdowns were scored nearly every two minutes.

Trim It could have scored a couple more touchdowns to widen the score towards the end, however great defence from Driver's female players saved at least three touchdowns.

Todd Granger was again almost impossible to stop and again took home a five touchdown haul, thanks to his wicked step and pace off the mark.

Katrina Scarfone backed up the boys very well by being rewarded with three touchdowns, with Ryan Brown scoring two and Andrew Ross also getting across the line.

For Driver, Eliza Baddock and Dom Giorgi guided the young players around field as best they could with Bailey Jones Lewis showing the way with three touchdowns as did Maddy Lyons, while Tekotahi Murphy scored two and Zoe Whitworth one.

The association thanked the referees who supported the GTA by coming every week, adding that their support does not go unnoticed.

Summer competition nominations are due on September 10 and 12, with nominations at the Northside Leagues Club between 6pm and 8pm on both nights.

The Griffith Touch Association's AGM will be held on Wednesday, September 26 starting at 6.30pm with five competition points to each team that attends.
