John F Gale won the 0-19 grade after carding 37 points. Merv Hill, making a return, had instant success and finished runner-up with 35 points on a countback from Skeet Milne. Bob Glyde (37 points) won the 19-36 grade ahead of Tom Morgan (35 points) on a countback over Bob Painting.
John F Gale won both pins on the fourth and eighth. Tom Morgan won on the 11th and Allan King the 15th.
Vouchers went to 33 points on a countback.
Tomorrow’s event is a two-person ambrose with special prizes. It may be played in groups of four or six. Arrange your own partners.
A final reminder that veterans’ subs are now well and truly overdue and unfinancial members will be excluded from competitions.
There were 31 players in two grades in last Wednesday’s single stableford.
Arthur Longmore (39 points) won the 0-18 grade after setting up his win with a 21-point front nine. Tony De Marco (35 points) was runner-up and had six pars.
Keith Woodbridge (39 points) was best in the 19-36 grade. He carded seven three-pointers in scoring 20-19. Derek Langford also carded 39 points but was pushed into second on a hole-by-hole countback after he also carded 20 out and 19 in, with a four-point par on the second.
