Several members were missing in action, but it has since been discovered some have been using their ‘Feral’ skills to crawl through mud and battle 10km of obstacles at Gundagai’s Mud Muster.

This event is highly recommended to all members, especially those simply seeking a new challenge.

Sharon Careri is one tough Feral and ‘mudder’, who should be high-fived for her early morning efforts at the muster before driving home to complete the race seven long course.

The long course turned up some mixed results on Saturday. Simon Croce demonstrated that new lifestyle habits can improve your running. Croce cruised through the course and crossed the line first with a time 59min 08sec.

Spring chicken Will Lyons continues to show the old dogs some new tricks with his repeated placings in the top five.

Lyons placed second last week with a time of 50.40. Michael Johns kept a tight grip on third with a blistering 44.28.

Rodney Savage looks to be well prepared for the upcoming Bacchus on the Lake after recording the fastest time this week of 41.48. Nicole Restagno also continues to up the ante and was the quickest woman with 52.02.

Anthony Nehme’s absence has changed the contest somewhat. There is now a nail-biting two-point difference between Nehme in first and second-placed Richard West.

Members will be watching with baited breath this Saturday to see which athlete can win the Bacchus trophy.

There is sure to be double the nail-biting in the Gunn house this week. Angus Gunn had a personal best with 16.43 last Saturday and is the current leader of the short course competition. Brother Hamish trails by one measly point, which makes for another exciting race to watch out for.

There were also marked improvements for many of the other members’ results last week. Louise Gunn is to be congratulated for knocking nearly eight minutes off her results in the last six weeks. Consistency has paid off and much progress has also been made by Tom Mackerras, Maggie Croce, Tracy Vecchio, Conner Dal Broi, Joseph Bellicanta, Jordan Piva and Lachlan O’Grady.

Finally, with only a week to go, don’t forget to get your entries in for the annual Griffith Bacchus on the Lake (5km sprint, 10km enduro or 8km walk). It is held on Good Friday (April 3) and is shaping up to be a highly enjoyable and sociable event.
