GPSO manager Roy Catanzariti thanked all those involved in securing the grant and described just how much of an impact the money will have.
“The hydrotherapy pool and gymnasium will be incredibly beneficial to GPSO clients,” he said.
“It will enable them to participate in swimming, exercise and physiotherapy programs and will assist individuals to increase flexibility, improve circulation and achieve health and fitness goals.
“What GPSO are creating at Yoogali is a centre of excellence for people with disabilities in a state-of-the-art facility.
“The centre already has an open-plan day activity centre incorporating a high needs unit, a library with Wi-Fi, massage and physiotherapy rooms, tennis courts and other outdoor facilities,” he said.
“This exciting new facility will benefit many diverse community groups, not just the clients of GPSO.
“It will be accessible to people in rehabilitation programs, aged care residents and people from various cultural groups.
“I’d like to thank Clubs NSW, NSW Minister of Liquor Gaming and Racing, Troy Grant MP and also Adrian Piccoli for their tremendous support in making this happen.”
Member for Murrumbidgee Adrian Piccoli was blown away with what he saw.
"The $500,000 grant is amazing, what they've done in there, it's the first time I've seen it and I'm just gobsmacked with what a terrific facility it is”, he said.
“It's a little hidden gem in Griffith.”
He said a hydrotherapy pool would be a fantastic addition to the building.
“I think it's a great stat that they had nine clients when they were in Binya street and now there's 44 and still growing because it's a great facility, great staff now this will be a further addition.
“Look, people with disabilities and their families deserve the most support of anybody in the community so I'm just amazed with what's been done here already and what there is to look forward to.”
