Some chose to walk the short or long course in order to conserve energy for participation in the annual City to Lake, Hillston Outback Triathlon and other chosen activities.
For those that put a big effort in for the usual race day, Saturday's heat still proved testing.
Anthony Nehme passed the exam with flying colours, crossing the finish line first with an improved time.
The result means Nehme currently leads the Bacchus competition.
David Heffer put in a big effort to take second, with Peter Stockwell only two seconds behind in third.
Roy Binks continues to produce consistent times for the 6.2km.
It will be interesting to see if the change in distance this week to 10km will help or hinder their results.
The first woman home for race four was Tara Gunn, while Teresa Burgess clocked the fastest time.
The short course was enjoyed by young and old joggers, but some results were unexpected, especially for Alex Careri.
Unfortunately, Careri's full time was registered as ‘started and running’, as his tag was lost in transit at Scenic Hill.
Remarkably, it was found by another jogger and returned.
However, this tale is a cautionary reminder that all members should listen carefully to the beeps when crossing the mat and be sure your tag is knotted in using two of its four holes.
Where one Careri had a little bad luck, another had some good fortune, with Danny Careri recording the fastest time of the day with 14min 51sec.
First home in the short course was Aidan Peruzzi in 16.10. Nick Altin (17.31) was second and Margaret O'Grady (18.25) third.
A special thanks goes to Matt Ross for his early morning work on Saturday. He has provided the Griffith Feral Joggers with a starting platform for our timing mats.
Lastly, joggers are reminded that the long course changes to 10km on Saturday in preparation for the annual Griffith Bacchus on the Lake, which will be held on Good Friday.
The short course of the Bacchus competition will continue to be 3km.
The Griffith Feral Joggers meet at 5.30pm at the water tower opposite Pioneer Park Museum at Scenic Hill.
New members are encouraged to arrive early to register.
